INSTALLATION AND CARE
Grille Installation:
It is vital that all grille mounting points on the vehicle's header panel, fenders, radiator support and lower filler are in perfect alignment with your grille's attaching brackets. Make a few trial fits before bolting the grille in place. Shims may also be helpful for adjustment. Most grilles have some sort of fine tune adjustments between the bezels and center of the grille, and some even have adjustable mounting brackets.
Any excessive pressure due to misalignment between the car and grille may cause cracking or warping.
Note: If you are having your car restored in a body shop or you are doing it yourself, you should have your grille and trim repaired first so you can fit the vehicle's openings to the trim. This is especially important when the vehicle has been damaged where the trim installs. This will avoid assembly headaches later!
Care:
!!Caution!! Solvents or harsh cleaning chemicals will damage your parts painted finish and void warranty.
NEVER USE WAX on a textured finished part.
With textured argent finished parts it is best to PAT dry with a clean shamy. Do not rub, especially with a paper towel. Due to the aggressive sandpaper like finish, you will leave lint that is difficult to clean up with out a rewash.
As with any painted surface avoid spilling any anti-freeze, gasoline, oils, brake fluid or windshield washer fluid. If you do, immediately rinse it off with water. Try not to wipe the area.
Instrument Cluster And Interior Trim Installation:
Always disconnect your battery before disassembly or installation of your instrument cluster.
Mark all wires so your sure they go back in the same location.
To avoid damaging your newly restored instrument cluster bezel, drop your steering column before installation.
Never use electric screw drivers to install interior trim. It is to easy to over tighten screws and crack your parts. Most of these plastic trim parts are over 30 years old and are very brittle. Handle with care.
Do not force parts to fit. Clear all obstructions
Vacuum Plating Care:
Remember that your parts are coated with a painted urathane surface. This is not as durable as hard chrome, and will chip and scratch as easily as the finish on your car and should be treated with care to keep the parts finish looking good
When you receive your parts, handle with care, the surface has cured enough for handling and installation but wont be fully cured for up to 30 days.
It will scratch easily!
Do not dry rub the surface when cleaning. This will turn small dust particles and debris into sandpaper and cause scratching.
Clean with a soft cotton towel moistened with a mixture of soap and water in a 10:1 ratio, 10 parts water to 1 part soap.
Avoid using vinyl or ammonia-based cleaners like window cleaners. These will eventually discolor the clear coat.
Use common sense .... If you think a certain substance or action may be hard on the finished surface, it probably will.
